The short version
Profit Builders runs a public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://profitbuilders.io/mcp (streamable HTTP). It exposes exactly one dataset: the settled dealer gamma exposure (GEX) surface we publish every day for 194 symbols — spot reference, net GEX with the call/put split, the gamma flip, the call wall, the put wall, and the expected move. Nothing else is on it: no options flow, no per-trade data, no subscriber data. Every answer carries the date its open interest was settled, because that date is part of the data.
The five tools
| Tool | What it returns |
|---|---|
| list_symbols | The 194-symbol GEX universe, with the settled open-interest date of the current surface. |
| get_gex | Settled GEX levels for one symbol: spot reference, net GEX, the call/put split, gamma flip, call wall, put wall, and expected move. |
| get_spy_gex_today | SPY's current settled levels — the same figures published on the SPY GEX today page. |
| compare_walls | Call wall, put wall, gamma flip, and net GEX side by side for two to five symbols. |
| methodology | How the levels are built, in the server's own words — the same account as the published methodology page. |
All five tools are read-only and side-effect free. The underlying surface changes once a day, after the close, so responses are safe to cache between rebuilds.
Connect
Any MCP client that supports remote streamable-HTTP servers can connect. There is no key to request and nothing to install on our side. Most clients take the standard remote-server config:
{
"mcpServers": {
"profit-builders-gex": {
"url": "https://profitbuilders.io/mcp"
}
}
}- Claude — add it as a custom connector and paste the endpoint URL, https://profitbuilders.io/mcp. No key and no OAuth step.
- ChatGPT — in developer mode, create a connector with the same URL.
- Anything else — if it speaks MCP over streamable HTTP, the endpoint URL is the whole setup. A tools/list call returns the five tools and their schemas.
Or probe it from a shell first:
curl -X POST https://profitbuilders.io/mcp -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"initialize","params":{"protocolVersion":"2025-03-26","capabilities":{},"clientInfo":{"name":"example","version":"1.0"}}}'What the data is — and is not
The MCP server serves the same published surface as our gamma pages for all 194 names and SPY GEX today — a second door into the same room, not a different dataset.
- Open interest is settled.The OI base is the OCC's overnight count of open contracts — final for the prior session and refreshed once daily after the close: the settled snapshot runs at 4:10 PM ET and the public surface rebuilds at 4:33 PM ET. A position opened today does not enter the base until tomorrow's settle.
- It is not live open interest.No vendor has live OI — the OCC settles overnight. Anything labelled “live OI” anywhere is an estimate layered on the same settled base.
- Inside the product, the same levels reprice against live spot through the session. The MCP server serves the settled published figures, so every result names its settled date and its levels-as-of time.
- Levels describe positioning, not direction. Walls and the flip mark where dealer hedging flow should concentrate; they are not predictions, and the server makes no claim about what any symbol will do.
The full account of how the levels are built is the gamma exposure methodology, and the vocabulary is defined in the dealer gamma glossary.
Status
The server is a free public tier, offered as-is for traders, builders, and AI tools. There is no paid MCP tier, and no Profit Builders plan includes or excludes this server — it is simply public. Because the dataset changes once a day, please cache responses between rebuilds rather than polling.
